Opening Reception of “Bullet Train” Exhibition

Title: Opening Reception of “Bullet Train” Exhibition
Where: the luggage store at 1007 Market Street
When: Saturday, March 12, 6 p.m.-midnight
Exhibition Dates: March 12-April 16

The premise for the show Bullet Train is to evoke dialogue between artists from two distinctly different locales—locales traditionally thought to be polar opposites: San Francisco and Los Angeles. Each city is representative of California’s identity—and yet one is known for promoting social awareness and civic responsibility, while the other, an advertisement for self-indulgence and consumerism. The show aims to bind the two through setting—through a mutual interest in environment.  The artists invited to participate in the show will not exhibit work that reflects SF/LA ideologies, however real or imagined– instead the work shall act as an exploration into the individuality as well as the inconsistencies of each artist and their representative city. All of the participating artists share a strong connection to California, and often the connection is expressed through their work. A range of disciplines will be represented in the show, including sculpture, painting, drawing, collage, poetry and film.
