Join us for a tour of some of San Francisco's Mission District's most revered murals. Led by founder and director of Precita Eyes Muralists [3] Susan Kelk Cervantes, this tour includes Juana Alicia's La Llorona's Sacred Waters on York St @ 24th St, and Isais Mata's 500 Years of Resistance on 24th St @ Alabama St. among others. Please wear comfortable shoes for walking.
Susan Kelk Cervantes is a 47-year veteran of the San Francisco community mural arts movement and founds of Precita Eyes Muralists. Established in 1977, Precita Eyes is one of only a handful of community mural arts centers in the United States. Cervantes is responsible for more than 200 collaborative community murals considered some of the finest in the Bay Area such as Cesar Chavez Elementary School, Mission Pool & Playground, Precita Valley Community Center, the S.F. Women’s Building, 24th Street Mini Park and many others. She is dedicated to social change by enhancing the environment through the creation of murals while involving and educating the public through the community mural art process.
