At this event, SFAC Galleries Director Meg Shiffler will introduce you to two people whose life's work it is to do just that: photographer and owner of Jim Marshall Photography LLC Amelia Davis and Grateful Dead historian/archivist and Director of the Center for Counterculture Studies Nicholas Meriwether. 

At the center of our discussion is the legendary photographer Jim Marshall and his relationship to influential Bay Area-based bands who shaped the counterculture movement during the Summer of Love. Hear behind-the-scenes stories about Marshall and bands like the Grateful Dead, Jefferson Airplane, Moby Grape, and Quicksilver Messenger Service, while also learning about the task of managing culturally significant archives.
