Join us in celebrating the exhibition opening of Tabitha Soren’s Fantasy Life, an epic, 15-year photo-based project that takes viewers behind the scenes of minor and major league baseball. In historic SF City Hall’s North Light Court, just off the main Rotunda, ten large-scale photographic banners depicting tintypes of SF Giants and their field team members in action. On the ground floor are 180 photographs of players from teams across the country on and off the field, ball parks, fans and coaches - but don’t expect a simple American Dream story. Soren earned the trust of players, coaches and owners who gave her access to intimate moments and restricted areas in order to create compassionate, revealing, extremely honest images that often subvert general notions/assumptions of heroism, power and fame.

This exhibition marks the Bay Area premier of Fantasy Life, and it is the largest exhibition of this body of work in the world to date. In addition to the exhibition, Aperture recently released the book version of Fantasy Life, which features commentary by select players and a five-part short story by Dave Eggers.
