For Nonprofits
San Francisco keeps the arts alive by investing in the success of its local arts nonprofits.

The City's robust grant programs nurture the continuing growth of its vibrant and diverse arts nonprofits.

San Francisco-based nonprofits are eligible for City funding. The Arts Commission serves small and mid-sized nonprofits through the Cultural Equity Endowment Fund and other City resources that foster the values and increase the impact of cultural equity and neighborhood arts. Our sister agency Grants for the Arts provides general operational support to a full spectrum of arts organizations, small and big, with no limit on the number of years a group can receive funds.

Both agencies administer their annual grant application cycle according to the City and County of San Francisco’s fiscal year (FY) calendar, which runs from July 1 to June 30.

Learn more about the Arts Commission's grant program or dive right in and check out our grant categories and upcoming deadlines.

The Arts Commission regularly hosts technical assistance workshops to help nonprofits build capacity and be more competitive in their grant applications. All workshops are posted to our calendar. We also recommend signing up for our eNewsletter to stay on top of upcoming opportunities.
