For Artists
Discover the many ways the Arts Commission supports artists in San Francisco.

No matter if you are a painter, dancer, musician, filmmaker or poet, we can help you reach your goals.

The Arts Commission is committed to serving individual artists in the following ways:

Grants for Individual Artists

The Arts Commission offers the Individual Artist Commission to serve individual artists. We also encourage artists to see our full suite of grant categories and to explore partnerships with nonprofits who may qualify for some of our other funding opportunities.

New commissions

Several times a year, we offer opportunities to apply for public art commissions and occasionally we seek artists for SFAC Galleries exhibitions. We encourage you to spend time perusing the Artist Opportunities section of this website.

Art vendor Licensing

Join hundreds of local artists and make your art your business. Art Vendors sell their work in designated spaces in the city's most visited areas.

ARTIST IN RESIDENCE

Launched in 2015, the San Francisco Arts Commission's Artist in Residence (AIR) program builds partnerships with City Departments in order to provide unique residency opportunities that result in strengthening the value of artists participating in and responding to the advancement of civic dialogue. AIR opportunities are only open to artists residing in the Bay Area.
