Join us for a walkthrough of Juanita: 30 Years of MORE! with Mr. David Glamamore, fashion designer, drag performer, and longtime collaborator to Juanita MORE!

Mr. David will spill the tea on the outfits displayed in the exhibition and give us a behind the scene glimpse of what goes into creating a look for Juanita.

This event is organized as part of Juanita: 30 Years of MORE! an exhibition celebrating the groundbreaking and radical work of San Francisco drag icon and denizen of the limelight, philanthropist, fashionista, DJ, activist, community leader, chef, and drag mom to many, Juanita MORE!

About Mr. David Glamamore:
A child prodigy, Mr. David began sewing at the age of three and clothing adults by the age of eight. Attending the High School of Fashion Industries seemed almost superfluous to the already self-taught designer. He launched his own business—“Mr. David”—after a brief stint at F.I.T. and soon became immersed in the cultural under-ground nightlife of NYC. There he found many outlets for his creativity within the fashion elite and avant-garde societies. Breaking away from the conformists of the 7th Avenue rag mills led to nearly two decades of artistry in the entertainment industry. Mr. David has produced thousands of costume and couture designs in all realms of clothing. Ranging from debutante balls, rock videos, opera productions, motion pictures, authentic period pieces, and live theatre, to high drag, his work continues to satisfy the myriad interests and varied talents of this proficient designer. What is amazing still is that Mr. David’s fruitful career rests mostly on the word of mouth of satisfied clients as he does little to promote his own name, allowing the designs to take the spotlight.

Mr. David has made an equally prolific contribution to the San Francisco art and fashion scene. While maintaining residences and studios on both coasts for the last 30 years, he has made an indelible impression on audiences and style fanatics in the Bay Area. His creations have illuminated the work of the Kunstoff dance troupe, as well as San Francisco puppeteer Basil Twist’s production of Petrushka at Lincoln Center. He has regularly designed products for specialty stores, George and Antoine Proulx. His couture specially designed for Juanita MORE! has caused endless inspiration to the world of San Francisco nightlife, culminating in an 24-year retrospective in 2016 at the deYoung Museum, showcasing 200 of her 3000 pieces.

An architecturally oriented artisan, Mr. David triumphs in all arenas of design whether it be severe tailoring construction or fluid bias cut. His work with every sized and shaped body imaginable, has given him a vast knowledge of beautifying, correcting, and creating impressive illusions.
