Week 2: March 17 | 3-5 PM| 826 Valencia Writing Lab, 826 Valencia Street
Join the SFAC and 826 Valencia in discovering how magical everyday objects can be!
We’ll start this 2-week workshop by exploring an installation at the SFAC Main Gallery by Bay Area artist Alison Pebworth called Innards and Upwards: A San Francisco Wunderkammer, which is a large-scale cabinet of wonder filled with mysterious objects and bits of local history collected from Recology, the city’s dump. After exploring the installation, you’ll use materials sourced from Recology to collage a visual story in your very own Wunderkammer! You’ll be able to choose from fabric, trinkets, toy figures, metal cogs and switches, faux jewelry, old photos, and more.
On the second day at the 826 Valencia Writing Lab, you’ll write your Wunderkammer’s story in a creative writing workshop. You’ll get to flush out the shady characters, add some plot twists, and a surprising climax! Finally, we’ll share and enjoy each other’s creations during story time.
