San Francisco Arts Commission Welcomes New Deputy Director of Programs
SAN FRANCISCO, August 22, 2024 – The San Francisco Arts Commission (SFAC) is excited to announce Ebon Sean Glenn will join the Arts Commission as the agency’s new Deputy Director of Programs.
Glenn will begin his new role with the Arts Commission on September 3, and will report to Ralph Remington, Director of Cultural Affairs.
“Ebon is a strategic and forward-thinking leader who brings extensive experience and a strong commitment to supporting underserved and underrepresented communities. He will be a tremendous asset to the Arts Commission as our new Deputy Director of Programs,” said Ralph Remington, Director of Cultural Affairs. “His previous work within the City, along with his connections to a diverse range of art and cultural partners will be invaluable as we continue to build on our agency’s mission of championing the arts in San Francisco and while strengthening community partnerships.”
In his new role as Deputy Director of Programs, Glenn will oversee the agency’s public-facing programs all programmatic staff, including the Community Investments team, which includes the grant making and art vendor programs; the Public Art team, which includes the Civic Art collection; the Galleries program; the Capital program. The Deputy Director of Programs will supervise the Director of Community Investments; the Director of Public Art and Collections; the Director of Galleries and Public Programs; the Capital Program Manager; and the Senior Racial Equity & Engagement Analyst.
Glenn joins SFAC from the Office of Economic Workforce Development (OEWD), where he served as a project manager since 2023. In this role, he managed a substantial portfolio focused on empowering local non-profit organizations dedicated to economic recovery efforts in diverse communities.

Prior to starting his career in public service, Glenn was the Owner Operator and Business Development Director of a successful airport retail business at San Francisco International Airport and San Jose Mineta International Airport from 2015 to 2019. He also served as the Operations Director for the African American Arts and Cultural District from 2019 to 2023.
Glenn’s career has been characterized by a deep commitment and steadfast dedication to fostering economic empowerment, advocating for diversity and inclusion, empowering individuals, and uplifting communities, particularly those that are underserved and underrepresented. Among his many accomplishments, Glenn helped facilitate and implement numerous local community grant projects that have successfully created business training and development programs, positively impacting minority and women-owned businesses.
Born and raised in Oakland, California, Glenn is a devoted husband to Dr. Kelly Glenn and a proud father. He earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Southwest Minnesota State University and a master’s degree in business administration.
